Roadworthy Inspection & Brake Fluid Flush on a Holden Calais

At Gander Automotive, we recently carried out a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) inspection on a Holden Calais. While the vehicle was generally in good shape, one critical item failed the initial inspection: the brake fluid was found to be contaminated.

Contaminated brake fluid poses a serious safety risk. It can reduce braking performance, cause a spongy brake pedal feel, and in extreme situations, lead to complete brake failure. Brake fluid naturally absorbs moisture over time, which degrades its performance and increases the risk of internal corrosion within the braking system.

To resolve the issue, we bled the brakes, flushed the entire system, and refilled it with fresh, high-quality brake fluid. After this essential maintenance was completed, the Holden Calais passed its reinspection without any further issues.

Why Brake Fluid Maintenance Matters

Brake fluid is a crucial component in ensuring your car stops quickly and safely. When it's contaminated, your brakes may not respond the way they should—putting both you and your passengers at risk. That’s why we recommend flushing and replacing brake fluid every 12 months to 2 years, depending on your vehicle’s make and model.

At Gander Automotive, we check the condition of your brake fluid as part of every service, so you can drive with confidence knowing your vehicle is roadworthy and safe.
